Jammu & Kashmir のこと

Indiaへのmain purposeはずばり J&Kでのビジネスの訪問。

J&KとはJammu and Kashmirのことでインド、パキスタン、中国の国境エリアです。

なので、政治的にもとてもSensitiveなエリアであり、外務省の海外渡航情報でも
『退避を勧告します。渡航は延期してください。』『渡航の是非を検討してください。』となっていて
果たして安全に仕事をこなし帰って来られるだろうか？と不安になったのですが、
知り合いのインド人や現地のアテンドをお願いしているビジネスパートナーと近々まで
情報のやりとりをしながら状況判断し、最終的には自己責任で渡航しました。

実際に行ってみて、ん？
少し拍子抜けしました。

そこはとても穏やかな町でした。

飛行機で隣あわせた香港人のツアーガイドをしている方とお話したのですが
特に心配はないし香港では退避勧告なんて出てないよーとのことでした。

とはいえ、テロが起きる時は、外国人が標的になることが多いので
Hotel stayは避けた方がいいというインド人のアドバイスに従い、
ビジネスパートナーの親戚のお家にstayさせてもらいました。

Kashmir / Srinagarの町。
他の町に比べるとやはり警備が多いです。

The main purpose of my journey to India was to visit the J & K area.
I visited Srinagar, the provincial capital of Kashmir, for business.
This is the border area facing the three countries (India, Pakistan and China).
So, there are many military security points, than any other town of India.

When I was in Japan, I considered whether I would go to Kashmir or not because I heard Kashmir is a politically sensitive area.
I was not sure because I heard that sometimes there is a risk of terrorist attack.

However, my anxiety about that area was gone when we arrived in the town.
It was quiet and peaceful, so I could spend my time there without any trouble.
